LGB Centerflow
LGB molded very heavy details, including the ladders and
grab irons. Instead of trimming them off, replacing them with wire,
and trying to paint match all the cars, I simply trimmed down from the
inside to create the smaller profile of wire grabs and used a file to
round them off.

LGB Boxcar
Altered end sections (ladders, railngs, break wheel
housing), filled in holes and painted, renumbered, added JM Enterprise
couplers and AC roller trucks.
|
A:
Filled in the screw holes along the top edge and
repainted. Also created new road numbers and re-decaled.
I used fine steel wool to scrub the previous numbers off and printed
decals with the xx font at size xx pt from xx. They are
slightly thicker then the original numbers, but good enough. |
|
B:
Also re-decaled the end road numbers using the xx
font at size, which again are slightly off from the original
font. I also reconfigured the end ladders by shortening them
one rung from the top, and lowered the horizontal railing and brake
wheel house by 1 rib on the end of the car. Filled in all the
holes and repainted. Then added JM couplers and AC roller
bearing trucks which also helps lower the car a little. |
